At Triple C Housing, we believe that every person we serve leaves an imprint on our community, shaping our mission in ways both seen and unseen. Some individuals, however, leave a mark so profound that their legacy becomes inseparable from the story of who we are. Neil Naughton was one of those extraordinary individuals.
Neil became part of the Triple C Housing family in 1987, joining our semi-supervised apartment program when it first opened. Over the decades, he became much more than a resident—he was a teacher, writer, poet, and lifelong learner, a man whose kindness, intellect, and quiet strength touched the lives of everyone around him.
Despite facing numerous medical challenges in his later years, Neil never complained and walked with dignity through every obstacle. His resilience was a testament to his spirit—a spirit that refused to be defined by hardship but instead embraced the beauty of learning, creativity, and connection.
Neil’s journey with Triple C was one of deep meaning. His words, his wisdom, and his unwavering kindness resonated with those who knew him. In a journal entry from 2004, he reflected on the care he received and his hope for others:
“I still hope and pray for others who are desperately ill, and it is my wish that they will receive the kind of exceptional care that I receive(d).” — Neil Naughton
These words exemplify who Neil was—someone who, even in his own struggles, thought of others first.
Sadly, Neil’s life was cut short in December 2023. His passing was a great loss, but his legacy remains. To honor his memory and the impact he had on all of us, Triple C Housing proudly recognized him with the Consumer Legacy Award at our 45th Anniversary Gala.
As we reflect on 45 years of Triple C Housing, we recognize that our mission is not just about providing homes—it is about honoring the lives and legacies of those we serve. Neil’s story is a reminder of why we do this work: to ensure that everyone, regardless of their challenges, has the stability and support they need to live with dignity, hope, and purpose.
Neil may no longer be with us, but his words, his kindness, and his enduring spirit will always be a part of Triple C Housing. Rest in peace, Neil. Your legacy lives on.
