As part of our Women’s History Month celebration, we invited staff to share stories about the SHEROs in their lives—whether it’s a grandmother, mother, sister, best friend, daughter, niece, or a colleague who inspires them. These stories highlight the strength, resilience, and impact of the incredible women who shape our lives and communities. In this spotlight, our Business Administrator, Sendy, shares the story of her SHERO—her grandmother—whose journey and sacrifices have left a lasting legacy.

My life has been shaped by hard work, culture, and an unshakable pride in where I come from. As a first-generation American, I know my journey isn’t just mine—it’s built on the sacrifices and resilience of the incredible women before me. My mom left everything behind at a young age to start fresh in a new country, and my grandmother did it even younger. They came here chasing a better life, not just for themselves but for the generations to come.

But my grandmother’s story? It’s on another level. She didn’t just start over in a new country—she built a family. A big one. She had 15 kids and somehow made it all work. I can’t even wrap my head around what that must have been like. Raising one kid is hard enough, but 15?! That takes a kind of strength and resilience that most of us can’t even imagine.

Now, at 100 years old, she’s still here, still sharp, still reminding all of us where we come from. Just think about everything she’s lived through—wars, civil rights movements, all the changes in the world. She’s seen it all. And through it all, she never lost sight of what really matters: family, hard work, and staying true to who you are.

Her story reminds me why the work we do at Triple C Housing matters. Every family deserves stability, support, and the opportunity to build something lasting—just like my grandmother did. She’s more than just my grandma (MY MAMA); she’s my inspiration. The way she’s lived her life, the sacrifices she made, the values she’s passed down… all of that has shaped me into the person I am today.
